Ace Hardware is set to establish a new Retail Support Center (RSC) in Kansas City, MO, signaling a major expansion move.

The new, 1.5 million-square-foot space is projected to be up and running by 2023 and is expected to employ over 350 people.

Over the last decade, the hardware retailer has experienced significant growth – including a $12 billion surge in retail sales, 11 consecutive years of domestic store growth, expansion into Mexico, and the establishment of 850 new stores in the last 5 years alone.

Jake O'Neal, the company’s corporate VP, retail support said the new RSC would help “maintain balanced service areas, ensuring the prompt delivery of goods” and provide its retailers with a competitive advantage. It is hoped that this strategically-located Kansa City location will enable the retailer to keep pace with this rate of expansion, as well as further bolster its distribution network to remain resilient in the face of critical events like seasonal flooding, natural disasters, and pandemics.

“We look forward to the construction of the new Retail Support Center in Kansas City, which will be a critical part of Ace Hardware's robust supply chain,” said Lori Bossmann, Executive Vice President, Chief Supply Chain Officer for Ace Hardware Corporation. “This new facility will allow Ace to accommodate its recent growth and sales volume, and it will prepare our company for future business opportunities. By strengthening our presence in the Midwest, Ace will be better positioned to fulfill deliveries more frequently, ensuring consistent service levels as new stores are opening within our network.”
